Connection check
The IP websites see
Check your current public IP, the country and your MaskNet connection status.
Look up any IP address
Enter an IP address to see its country, city, provider, and network number. The panel above shows data for your current address.
What a public IP can reveal
An IP address can point to the country and the approximate location of a connection. Websites also use other browser data and cookies, so changing your IP does not by itself make you fully anonymous.
What changes once you connect
- Websites see a MaskNet IP instead of your original one
- Traffic to the MaskNet network is encrypted
- Your operator sees only a connection to a MaskNet server in Russia
- Browsing history isn't stored
Every website you open sees this IP. With MaskNet they see ours instead. From 150 ₽ per month.
Protect your connectionWhat an IP address is and what it reveals
What a public IP is
Your public IP address is the address your traffic comes from on the internet. Your provider assigns it, and every site you open sees it. At home, all devices on the Wi-Fi network usually share one address, and on mobile internet the address is often shared by many of the operator's subscribers.
An internal address like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x belongs to your home network. Sites don't see it.
What a site learns from your IP
- Country and city. The city comes from address databases and is often tens of kilometres off; the country is almost always right.
- Provider and network number (ASN). It shows whether this is home internet, a mobile operator or a data-centre server.
- That the address belongs to a VPN. Some sites block access from data-centre networks.
Your name, phone number or exact address can't be learned from an IP — only your provider has that data. More in What websites can learn from your IP address.
What the MaskNet status shows
If you are connected to MaskNet, the check sees our server's address and shows "Your connection is protected by MaskNet". We don't display the server's IP and country: they aren't your data. Traffic between your device and the MaskNet server is encrypted.
If MaskNet isn't connected, you see your current address, country and provider — the same as sites see.
Why Russian sites see your usual IP
Smart routing sends the traffic of Russian services — Gosuslugi, banks, marketplaces — outside the VPN tunnel: they see your Russian IP, and you don't need to turn MaskNet off. That is why IP checkers on Russian domains may show your usual address even with MaskNet connected. This page opens through the tunnel and shows the address foreign sites see.
Looking up someone else's IP
In the "Look up any IP address" block above you can enter any IP address and see its country, city, provider and network number. It helps to understand where an email or a connection came from and whose server it is. Addresses from local ranges aren't looked up: there is no data on them.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the city wrong?+
The city comes from IP databases, not GPS. Providers hand out addresses from shared blocks for a whole region, so an error of tens of kilometres is normal.
Does my IP change?+
For most home and mobile connections, yes: the address changes after a router restart or reconnecting to the network. Providers sell a fixed address as a separate service.
Why does the check say MaskNet isn't connected when it is on?+
Reload the page after connecting. If the status doesn't change, check in the app that the connection is really up, and open the leak test.
Does MaskNet hide my IP from every site?+
From foreign sites, yes: they see a MaskNet server address. Russian services see your Russian IP through smart routing — by design, so that Gosuslugi and banks work without turning MaskNet off.
